The Tampa Bay Rays have signed Carlos Pena to a one-year $7.25mm, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
Last season, Pena posted a .225 avg for the Cubs but hit 28 home runs in 606 plate appearances while earning $10mm on a one-year deal.

In a Tweet by Buster Olney of ESPN, he reports that Carlos Pena of the Chicago Cubs has been claimed on waivers by the Yankees. Olney later added that the Cubs and Yankees haven’t talked about Pena.

The Chicago Cubs internally have not ruled out the idea of re-signing Carlos Pena to a new contract after his current deal expires after this season, Patrick Mooney of CSNChicago.com reports.
